This is an interesting one sociologically. To compare attitudes then and now to Marijuana. 'Hashish' for those who don't know, is not Marijuana. Marijuana is the plant name. 'Hashish' is a very concentrated extract made from Matijuana. And yes, ingestion of that can seriously impair your judgement. Which is why [trivia fact coming up] the word 'Assassin' derives from it.'H Ashish -in'. This is an 'Anti-Drug comic I wasn't aware of. There weren't many (even until Marvel was asked to tackle it in Spiderman and in DC, Green Arrow's ward Speedy became a junky) and most of them are quite well-known. Well done Freddy.

There's a carload of irony in this issue. The sanctimonious strip on the inside front cover praises the moral superiority of newspaper strips over comic books, which are full of "jealousy, hate, tortures, and gory death." Then we get a newspaper strip story full of jealousy, hate, tortures, and gory (off-camera) death! On the mayhem scale this episode ranks right up there with the most vicious of the Dick Tracy sagas of the 1930s.

Drake tokes up and comes down in three panels! Clearly a man of superhuman willpower.

I liked Meatball’s comment “Dangerous things, cars – they shouldn’t sell them.” With 17,000 people killed on Britain’s roads this decade, he might have a point! A good story, I enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to reading the conclusion in the next issue.
