Wow... spooky. It's like you're reading my mind. Kazanda, and then Camilla. You should do comps of Taanda/Tarinda WHITE PRINCESS OF THE JUNGLE #1-5 (Avon) and TEGRA/ZEGRA Jungle Empress #1-5 (Fox) while you're at it. Maybe VOODA Jungle Princess #20-22 (Ajax-Farell) too. I think that covers almost all the minor PD jungle girls not already compiled. What's left? KARA The Jungle Princess, from EXCITING COMICS #39-49 & FIGHTING YANK #21; TYGRA of the Flame People from STARTLING COMICS #45-53; and Alani, the South Sea Girl from SEVEN SEAS COMICS? I know people would love to have a compilation of Matt Baker's South Sea Girl, but no one seems to have scans of SEVEN SEAS #s 3, 5 & 7... and the IW/Super reprint scan of #6 needs replacement, too. One small quibble... personally, I don't think the covers ought to be included in a compilation unless the character actually *appears* on the cover... but that's just nit-picking. Awesome job!

I actually just started putting together a couple of jungle compilations of my own, South Sea Girl from SEVEN SEAS COMICS by Matt Baker, and Jay Disbrow's TERRORS OF THE JUNGLE. The latter was a mostly-reprint comic from Star Publications using old Fox Publications Jo-Jo Congo King, Rulah, and Tangi reprints (with the names and/or title logos usually altered), but it did have impressive covers on every issue by L.B. Cole and after the first 3 issues, most issues had a new 6-page jungle story by Jay Disbrow. Both of these collections are still incomplete right now, awaiting scans of stories from unscanned issues. If I ever get those missing stories, I'll upload the compilations when they're completed.

Staggering piece of work to bring this together - well done all. Wonderful story with hints of Flash Gordon and sorcery to embellish the jungle girl theme. Don't miss it.

Kazanda is a character originally published in Australia. There were two volumes: KAZANDA: THE WILD-GIRL AND THE LOST CONTINENT and KAZANDA AGAIN, both published by NSW Bookstall Co (dates of publication are poorly documented, but between 1938-42 for the first one, and 1941-1944 for the second). Archie Martin (using the pen-name Peter Amos) wrote it and Ted Brodie-Mack (pen-name Brodie Mack) drew it. Brodie Mack was born in New Zealand and moved to Australia, where he became a regular collaborator with Peter Amos using the pen-names as they are the ones used in their comics). They were published in black and white; I don’t know who coloured it for American publication. I haven’t yet looked at these two comics, but according to the AusReprints site, not all the material from the two Australian publications are used in Ranger Comics, but also there is also some additional art. When I scan these (assuming I can), I’ll contact the compiler to see if anything might be added to the compilation. As a side note, Brodie Mack (using the name Edward Brodie) was involved in running an art course, of which two instructional books still exist.
