This first episode of the series introduces us to both Holmes and Watson in such a way that even those unfamiliar with their characters and the dynamics between the two would quickly grasp the gist of their relationship in upcoming teleplays. With Holmes' quick use of observation and logic, and Watson's scepticism about the conclusion that his partner reaches we are sent off on a tutorial of what will form the crux of this series. The dialogue is crisp and plot is as complex as a half hour episode would allow. All in all a series that is both enjoyable and stands the test of time.
